Urban Survival Course

The Urban Survival Course is a two-day intermediate level class. This military designed course has been modified for civilians to learn advance training like tactical medicine (TCCC), low light pistol, and fundamentals of tactical rifle fashioned for an urban environment. This course will progress students from basic handling and marksmanship skills to more advanced shooting drills focusing on techniques used in an urban environment.

Class Time: 2 days (16hrs)

  • Day 1: 8hrs 

    • Fundamentals of Tactical Medicine (4hrs): Skills covered will include: care under fire, penetrating trauma, bleeding control and tourniquet use, and other essential skills needed when working with firearms.

    • Fundamentals of Low Light Pistol (4hrs): Skills covered will include: the human eye and how it works in low light, movement in low light, selection of support equipment used in low light (flashlights, weapon mounted lights, night site, etc.), alternative use for flashlight, dry and live fire drills.


  • Day 2: 8hrs

    • Fundamentals of Tactical Rifle (8hrs): The student will develop skills that will increase their speed, accuracy and confidence with the carbine. The following topics will be covered during the course; Safety, Nomenclature and accessories, Sight-in/zero procedures, Ready positions; High, Low, etc, Reload Drills (admin, tactical and combat), Shooting positions and transitioning to shooting positions, Multiple shots/multiple targets, Malfunction drills, Use of Cover, Transitioning to secondary (pistol).

Must have taken the Pistol Safety and Fundamentals, Pistol Skills and Firing Techniques, and the Introduction to the AR-15 Training Courses. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity with rifle and pistol, foundational marksmanship skills, and working from a holster. 

Materials Needed (partial list):

  • AR-15

    • 500 rounds of rifle ammunition (approximate)

  • Handgun

    • 200 rounds of ammunition (included with rental)

    • ​Full metal jacket

    • If bringing your own firearm and ammunition, the ammunition must be factory ammo only, no reloads allowed!

  • Ear safety gear

  • Eye safety gear


* * Students must arrive with irons and optics zeroed. (Need more information, call us and ask us.) 

Cancellation Policy: 

Students will be charged a $15 cancellation fee to cancel any class. No fee will be charged for rescheduling classes.  We hold classes rain or shine.  Range training is conducted outdoors so please dress accordingly. 

Late Registration and Rental Policy: 

An additional fee of 15% will be charged to students for anyone who signs up less than 48 hours from the start of the scheduled course. This fee applies to the cost of the course and any firearm rental(s).

Students must be at least 18 years of age or older to participate. You must be a citizen of the United States or have permanent legal alien status and show a valid driver’s license or other valid photo identification to use a firearm in connection with any Services provided under this Agreement. Anyone suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed on the range. DTTG RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE.
